My Top 5 Old Fashioned Arcade Games

I have been a fan of arcade games for as far back as I can remember. While I still like them, nothing beats the options that were available back in the day. Here is my list of the top 5 old fashioned arcade games.

Pac-Man

I was never very good at this game, but that does not mean I did not play it every chance that I got. There is nothing like feeling your heart pounding out of your chest when you are back in the corner of monsters. This was a simple game that I played for many hours in my youth. I cannot say there is any other game quite like it.

Donkey Kong

This is another game that I was not super great at, but I played it for hours at a time. My little brother was much better at it, and he gave me grief whenever his high score beat mine by a landslide. Even later on in life when I started playing Mario Bros. on the Nintendo gaming systems, I would smile every time I saw Donkey Kong.

The Claw

You could find one of these in every Arcade years ago, but now they are much harder to come by. This is a machine that is filled with all kinds of treats, and you have to use a mechanical arm and try grabbing an item and maneuvering it to a hole.

I am not sure what kind of super powers I have, but in the 1990s there was one of these in my local arcade, and I won stuffed animals all of the time. The funny thing is that many of them are sitting on the other side of my room as I write this; a definite reminder of an era.

Pinball

I have this love-hate relationship with pinball. While it is not the most exciting game, I was always really good at it, which means that I could make my quarter last much longer than I could with any other game. I have not even seen one of these in more than a decade, but I am fairly certain I would be just as good if I could get my hands on one.

Centipede

My uncle had an Atari when I was growing up, and I used to play this all of the time. Eventually, that game system disappeared, but I could still head to the arcade up the street and play this. I know that I would probably be pretty bored with this concept if I decided to play it now, but at the time it was one of the best things around, which is why I decided to include it on this list.

Over the years, there have been countless arcade games made. With that said, they certainly do not make them like they used to. I have yet to find any arcade game in the world that is better than those that were mentioned here.
