3 Best of All-Classic Video Games Time

Throughout many generations, arcade video games have evolved from basic puzzles such as table tennis ping pong to heavily graphical RPG online multiplayer games today. But before any of the amazing computer games we play today, there were notable gameplays that marked a breakthrough in the video game industry. Here are some of them.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Launched in 1998, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time proved to be 3D-graphic fantasy action adventure gameplay came with one of the world’s first ever target locking features. The story is set up in a vast open world that enabled players to control the activity with a character named Link as it’s the main protagonist.

A reward system also works within the game as players earn abilities and weapons from solving quests or beating bosses. With a good storyline, battles, exploration, 3D graphics, and a touch of magic, critics regarded the Legend of Zelda as one of the best video games of all time resulting in many awards and recognition worldwide.

Inspired by tennis and geometric shapes called tetrominoes composed of 4 squares fused together, this simple matching puzzle game became a huge success for a variety of handheld devices. It can be played by anyone from a little 5-year-old to an elderly because of its straightforward simplicity.

The goal of the game is to get the highest score possible from fitting tetrominoes that fall into a solid line without gaps. A fully stacked line disappears and creates new space as new tetrominoes fall with increasing speed as higher levels are unlocked. Numbers mark its success as the game has sold over 170 million of its copies into cellphones and other devices from its first release in 1984.

Super Mario 64

This 3D game sets in a three-floored castle and other simple “worlds” that are accessed and explored by the main protagonist Mario. He retrieves stars to save the captured Princess Peach finally.

Considered to be one of the most revolutionary video games of all time, Super Mario 64 introduced a 360-degree control of its character and a camera system no other games have ever done during its time.

That ends my list. We’re looking forward to more years of gaming with new trends and thrill.

Video games have been part of our lives and have appealed to us to a point where we have consumed millions of these devices brought to our homes for our entertainment. With that said, here are the top 3 greatest consoles sold of all time.

1.    PlayStation 2

Also known as PS2, PlayStation was released in 2000 by Sony as a successor to PlayStation. It has beaten Sega’s Dreamcast, Microsoft’s Xbox, and Nintendo’s GameCube with over 155 million units of this console sold across the globe. It was a huge success as it has also beaten the sales of its predecessor, PlayStation that sold 102 million units. According to other sources, there were 3,874 games made for the device and billions sold worldwide. It was kept in production for 13 years and until finally being discontinued in 2013.

2.    Nintendo DS

This handheld device saved its firm from commercial failure following weak sales of one of its consoles (Gamecube). Designed after Game Boy Advance SP with a clamshell design that includes 2 display screens that are less than 3 inches wide. Combined with the rest of its series, the Nintendo DS has sold over 154 million units making it the second best-sold game console of all time since its release in late 2004.

3.    Gameboy /  Gameboy Color

Another successful video game console from Nintendo is the Gameboy issued in 1989 accumulating over 118 million sales worldwide. It has beaten Game Gear, Lynx, and Turbo Express. This small device is optionally powered by 4 AA batteries or by an adapter that was sold separately and also came with different accessories such as a magnifier, illumination light, and speakers. Over 1,000 games were made for the original Gameboy and it was discontinued in 2000 as Nintendo was about to release the Advance series back then.

We’re excited to see more devices to complete the list in the future.
